yeah- I read the link--- the Prince of Darkness rests---I don't need it- I don;t want it- (except that any business that's wants a hot spot can do it on their own)- and until somebody other than the people that post of these blogs-- tell me different---according to what I read- we already have broadband (DSL) cable----what is it with you guys-- you got to carry your version of a Gucci purse around for public display??

Oh look at me-- I have a laptop---- and I am sitting on Main Street using it ---I am just so cool-- and so mod---talk about egos needing to be stroked at the public expense----although it does prove the progress we've made in this City-- we now have dilatantes- that we didn;t used to----nut they are all lefties and want NA to join the "nanny state" crowd----screw the people-- give me my MTV---as the saying used to go-----you guys are leeches-- pure and simple---you don;t have broadband??? get it - it's available-- you won't to play with yourself with a laptop on yopur lap---tough tittie---you ain;t getting any support from me----I am not -as a City Councilor- in the "convenience" business---pathetic--- chbpod

I wish the prince of darkness would rest. We all know you are against it, you don't understand it, you don't see its value. Fine, so stay out of the conversation.

Snoop= you are a sponge and a leech---wanting to suck off the public tit---and now after all of this -I DO understand it---- we a;lready have broadband - high speed access--- except for wifi in the down town---and maybe that explains why no one except you -Wes and the elitist silly people are screaming for it---Wi Fi-- will not bring busienss to the area--since any business in its right mind will already have access to high speed---will wifi- bring more tourists to the area?? maybe---but wherever they are staying should accomodate them and not the City---you are such a buffon da snoop---- it's a shame you even have a tie to the City---
I hope not too many of your scions are around to keep the DNA tree growing----there is no value to wifi-- or its very limited-- at least so limited- except possibly public safety-- for the city to get involved---get a life asshole get a life---and think of comething worthwhile--- muni wifi is a BIG NOT---and YOU can;t understand that---so YOU give it a rest-------chbpod

Fair enough POD, but I will be saving that last paragraph, it will be most enjoyable to trot out someday.

Like I said..."liberalism is a mental disorder".

Before I get to the meat of my comment I have a funny story that chbpod can relate to. In the early days of the "Computer Age" when computers were still in the fetus stage,I tried to get my father to buy a computer. He loved to tinker with e-lec-tron-ic de-vic-es and the emerging technology. A time when analog and tubes were still the standard and digital was just emerging. We were heavy into CB Radio and he had the premo elite unit of the time with a very large and modern antenna array to match. (a Browning something, that made a distinctive "PING" when you keyed the mike. His handle was "Southview" (which I use today in my blog in remembrance) and mine was "Indian"
Anyway...knowing all this I figured that he would be overjoyed to take the next step... into the computer age..........well to my shock and surprise, he said to me "What do I need a computer for, and what would I do with it?" "Explain to me what it is good for?" He had me! Computers at the time were cumbersome machines and the intranet was a beast yet to be tamed. Surfing back then almost required a degree in codeing and html. It was not very user friendly. If you wanted to impress people within ear shot at a party all you had to say was "When I BOOTED UP" or "My MODEM is 28K Baud" Dumb geeky shit like that.
( I must note here that I am not a Geek. I am that barefooted, bucked toothed, coverall wearing, banjo pluckin, inbred that lives up here on the mountain with "OLD COOT" )
But alas with all my prodding I couldn't get him to take the step over the line. He couldn't see any usefulness in his life for a computer....ergo - chbpod & WiFi.
Now to the meat.....WiFi, or some form of it, will come to the Town at some point. It is needed by our Police and Fire, and Town workers that need access to information while out and about. There are Grants available now ( I have checked it out ) for a system. And if along the way the general public also gets access to the grid by virtue of it's existence all the better!

I don't disagree with the public safety aspect of it---but whether "public" access would be allowed??? I don;t know-- maybe at or near the "hot spots" which we already have at Conte- MCLA and Jaes in-----however- anything along those lines will have to come from the Mayor---as far as "business" use??? that's going to have to come from the business community---I think given our low economy of scale-- the private sector is not going to jump in---grants you say??? ok-- most granst are for start up--- maintainence is thrown back on the City----I don;t think so-- could be wrong----but whenever I mention WiFi to the Mayor--- as it is with Benches- all I get is a snarl------John Barrett is -as he likes to see himself- a ",am of the people" and the question is then what people need WiFi--- public education-- ok -- public safety???? probably not-- he thinks our public safety system is working well---to say otherwise is a criticism of his administration---and since the wifi p[ush seems to come from effete intellectual snobs(Southview possibly excepted) he's probably not going to bite--- chbpod

I don't know who should be more offended by that remark - Southview or the others who have spoke in favor of WiFi.
